1 July 2003.
I played a pick up game against a young gentlemen with Imperial Guard. we played
an approximate 1750 point list, which meant me facing a lot of troops, a Leman
Russ, Lemon Russ Demolisher, Armored Fist squad, 3 sentinals, a basalisk, and
a vindicare assasian. Due to the points I was able to bring 4 tac squads, a
small bike squad, a small assault squad, a small scout bike squad, an attack
bike, and a predator.
It was a close game, but ultimately ended up in a Storm Lords victory. He was able to wipe out a razorback and rhino right away, and thanks to good shooting, his Russ never got a shot off with the battle cannon, as we were able to stun and finally kill it. The demolisher was also negated by its short range cannon, as we never had a target in range for him to shoot. The basilisk had its barrell smashed in by the scout bikes, and spent the rest of the battle driving around and using its heavy bolter.
On our side we were able to smash the sentinals with plasma pistols (a veteren seargent in the assault squad accounted for two!), and put a couple of wounds on the vindicare from shooting. The Predator peppered the Leman Russ, finally killing it in turn 4. The scout bikes were again amazingly effective; popping in, ripping apart a squad with bolter fire, and than assaulting the basilisk and the troops.
This was a patrol mission (straight out from the main rulebook), and I set up on the short L. The IG player brought in these 3 sentinals on my flank, each armed with lascannons and hunterkiller missiles! I was able to negate them after two turns, but in the meantime they roasted a razorback. |

Elsewhere, a full tac squad set up behind this bridge. After all was said and done, the rhino was destroyed and the squad mostly eliminated due to shooting; the remainder of the marines headed off table! |
