Panzee Falcon Conversion 1.0

- Completed 18 April 2006- Gooba and da Lootaz are back at it! This time their project/victim is/was a Eldar Falcon. It's future? Wartrukk!

If you have time, check out the rest of the site too - including the ork army list, and the other conversions.

The salvaged falcon
First off is cutting away the back of the model to extend the cargo area. 10 orks are a lot more to carry than 6 weedy panzees!
An I-beam sub-frame was added to support the back.
Once that was in place, plasticard sides and subfloor were added.
Instead of adding patch plates, I decided to instead externally rib the metal work.
With the top on for sizing.
Next up were the outer rear supports.
And a couple of angles for good measure.
Than screening over the opening, and the rear wheels were added on.

The screened area represents a "no-man" zone.
In the front, a def roller made of card, pipe insulation, and two tau drones. was added. In this pic you can see the toothpick axle.

A row of rivits was added to the outside edge of the roller
And with the hull back on.

A rear fender was put on the right side, and some support work on the front roller area. The front stones were shaved off as well.
Back view.
I added v's to the roller for some more texture.

Next up was removing the weedy eldar engines, and swapping them out with some proper power. I had to cut away the interior engine detail with the dremel.
With the motors mounted.

More Fender work...

Next up was to re-do some of the front.

I had debated about making an open cockpit, but the only boy that would fit was the weedy truck driver. So enclosed it is.

Another view of the front end.
Here's a closeup of the roller and the reinforcements.
It was decided that the front needed some impact damage, so here you go!

On the back, I added some cross wise ribs for the fenders.
And than added more "punched" rivited strips.

Exhaust ventricles were attached to the rear of each engine.
Next up are control vanes behind each.
The control vanes, control lines, bigs shoota, and stikkbomb launcha are in place.

Is it fast enough? Looks like it might need a fin in the back....
I tried a fin, and that really didn't look right. It spoils the lines too much of the vehicle.
Primed

The first step in painting was applying the Sam-Hain look on the falcon.

and that includes decals.

The next step was working on the rest of the model.

and begin highlihting the blue sections.

And done. The blue was rounded out, a few details added, and the machine was weathered to give it that "kicked up" ash waste look.

I had first thought to use a big shoota, but finally decided on rokkits, as they sort of fit the model's theme.
