- UPDATED 11 JUNE 2007- In early April, 2006, the new Tau plastic piranha kit came out, and Gooba was able to get his hand on one pretty early.
The concept? Piranha meets Wartrukk.
Unfortunately due to a real life move, this project was delayed for over a year, but Goobaz back on the job!
If you have time, check out the rest of the site too - including the ork army list, and the other conversions.
so 'ere we go!

Ohhh....gooba likes these.
Muhahahaha | |
Construction |
|
First off, was sizing up the piranha parts (main hull and engines) and a stock wartrukk chassis.
Gooba thinks it will look something like this....not impressed yet, are you?
Moving to the trukk chassis, the front axle and seats were removed (This is a bottom view)
and than the bottom of the piranha chassis was also trimmed.
and, so was the top. | |
ah, now this is looking a little better.
It was time to mount the engines. I wanted them kept in the same location as the normal piranha, but in order to get a different look, and clear tires, I flipped them upside down.
Another rough idea of how the model will look.
Lengthing the bed of the trukk is necessary to balance out the long nose.
and the risers for the exhaust channels were installed.
than the tops. | |
ducting is visible under the mesh on each side.
a top down view | |
and with the nose. | |
Ah ha, now you're starting to think this wasn't a bad idea.
Now she's got wheels, benches in the back, hand rails, and a working big shoota.
And we mean working. The BS swivels freely in the Tau weapon mount.
The idea is the exhaust passes all the way through the truck.
Fenders from the space marine bike might actually work on this rig.
And after some extra plasticard.
It was suggested to add a front bumper, but I'm not sure this is the right piece. |
