Turn 2:
Biterolf continues his steady advance towards the ork lines, completely unconcerned by the soft ground beneath his feet. Still following close behind, the Wolf Priest continues his litany of prayer as he walks. Next to them, the Rhino finally engages its transmission, and moves forward.
In the roadway, the Blood Claw bikes slowly advance down the tarmac.
Up
north, the Blood Claw Rhino continues to move forward, followed closely
by the Wolf Priest, outdistancing the Wolf Guard Battle Leader. The scouts
on the cliff side continue to adjust their position in order to better
bring their weapons to bear.
The battlefield noises are silenced by the shriek of the Whirlwind as it empties its ordinance load, this time squarely on top of the ork Warboss in his trukk, yet it is not enough to do any harm.
Biterolf fires again at the Gretchen, this time killing three more with his assault cannon. The Wolf Priest accounts for another one, and the Iron Priest on the hill behind them takes another two in the name of Russ. Shrieking in fear, the gits scatter and disappear, as the slaver Slapgit curses to himself and begins the thankless task of collecting them.
Behind the dreadnought, the Wolf Priest focuses his mind on the protective storm around Biterolf, and is startled as perils emerge from the warp and attack him. His concentration is enough, however, to fight them off, but the storm calling is broken, and the storm dissipates.
Inside the rhino next to them, a plasma shot reaches out and disintegrates a burna boy in the trenches, the other shots going wild.
The Leman Russ fires again at the bunker, and again is thwarted by the bunker's substantial concrete protection. Back on the roadway, the Blood Claw bikes shoot at the burna boyz, their bullets absorbed by the protective trench.
Across the roadway the Long Fangs fire again at the bunker, with similar results. Both heavy bolters now come into play against the slugga boyz, and three of the boyz drop, their bodies torn from the fire.
The Blood Claw Rhino shoots at the stikkbommas, but do not manage to wound anything. Pistol fire from inside, however, has more luck as two stikkbommas fall from the incredibly accurate bolt pistols. Another stikkbomma falls to the plasma gun from the scouts, fortunately for them the stout walls of the ruined tower protecting them from the combined shooting of the Wolf Priest and Wolf Guard. Despite their losses, both ork mobs decide to hold their ground.
On
the far southern edge, the ork Slaver manages to corral the errant gits
back into formation, his whip cracking, the moves them into cover in the
trench. Behind him, the trees shake as da Grotstompa, the ork version
of a dreadnought appears on the battle field like some primeval monster.
On the road way the fast attack buggy squadron appears, and move up the tarmac to the edge of the ork fortifications.
Behind
the tower the 20 ork strong mob of 'ard boyz also show up for the battle,
and move into its shelter.
da Grotstompa lets loose with its torso mounted rokkit that flies true, striking Biterolf squarely in the chest. Ammunition problems apparently rampant in the ork forces, the rokkit simply bounces off, failing to detonate upon impact (another 1 for damage!).
In the bunker, the boys fire again at the Whirlwind, and are still unable to damage it in any way.
Bob and his boys in the trukk unleash a torrent of fire on the approaching Blood Claw bikers, this time managing to kill one of them. On the roadway, the buggies fire their big shoota, rokkits, and kustom mega blasta at the Wolf Guard, but do no harm.
The 'ard
boy with a big shoota takes aim at the Guard as well, but his shells bounce
harmlessly off of their terminator armor. The stikkbommas enjoy
a little more luck, as one of their big shootas glances the approaching
rhino, making it unable to fire in the next round.
