11 December 2004 - After a long time sitting in a box, I began construction of the Land Raider Crusader for my Storm Lords Space Marine Army. I chose the Crusader as I want mine to be a transport first, firing platform later, and the Crusader offers expanded transport capability.
In order for the Crusader to survive long enough so it deliver's it's payload, I also added spaced armor from Forgeworld. Here's the build in progress
I started off with the basic internal structure assembled, and primed. Prior to full assembly, I will paint the interior | ![]() |
Attaching the Forgeworld armor is not difficult, but as with most Forgeworld items, no instructions are provided. First off you need to remove the two step located on each side under the doors (highlited in red). I also removed the rivets down there; in the final build they are covered by the armor plates. | ![]() |
Like most resin sets, there is a lot of flash and casting tabs to be removed (highlited in red). Here's an example of a side panel, and a rear panel. As always, take care when working with resin, DO ANY CUTTING OR SANDING OUT SIDE OR WITH FULLVENTALATION AND WITH A MASK. I cannot stress this enough. | ![]() |
Here is the right side assembled. One of the hardest part is getting the spaced armor plates properly aligned on the model; they slide just enough to not be even as the glue sets. | ![]() |
And here I'm just trying it on for size. | ![]() |
to be continued.. | |
