Turn 1.
He won first turn, and advanced with fleet of claw. His shooting was mostly ineffective, stunning a kan, and killing three grots with a barbed strangler shot. Killer kan armor plate bounced off his str 10 ‘fex. Shot. The Konviktz advanced behind the kans, and opened up. The tankbustas, setting the trend for the game, fired and missed with all rokkits. BS fire raked the gaunts with guns, taking down about half that unit, and a russ template hit a guant unit square, killing 6. The buggies roared up the sides of the table.
Turn 2.
He kept advancing, and this gargoyles and others shot into the grots, killing more, but not breaking them. More boyz died due to barbed strangler overflow. Two more str 10 hits on the kans, both shrugged off with armor plates! His gargoyles assaulted the grots, but amazingly the grots held their ground.
Da ‘boyz advanced as well, still behind the kan screen. On the left, a unit of sluggaz and three kans blew into the grot/gargoyle combat, and wiped out all but on, which fled back to it’s closest synapse creature. They all consolidated out of sight of his warriors and carnifexes. On the other side of the table, the skorcha buggy zipped up and roasted a couple of genestealers in cover, and the kans advanced, shot, and assaulted the gaunts with guns, wiping them out. Tankbustaz, again, missed. The Russ also deviated off target. A poor consolidation roll left the kans on the right horribly exposed.
Turn 3.
He continued to advance with his units, and his carnifex finally tagged a kan, destroying it outright. His genestealers assaulted the kans, but couldn’t damage them, and lost two in return, so that unit was stuck in combat. His other gaunts came over a hill, and assaulted the slugga squad on the right, with help from a licter that showed up, and cut the sluggaz in half, but they held.
The skorcha on the left zipped up, and put a wound on a warrior, which worked out as the russ shell came down and removed the same model. On the other side, the skorcha pulled up, and roasted half of the brood lord’s retinue. As the norm, the tankbustaz missed with all four rokkits.
While the sluggaz and the grots consolidated into the trees on the left near one loot marker, the kanz on that side shambled forward, and plowed into the carnifex. One kan had it’s cc weapon ripped off by the monster, but in return, the kanz put three wounds on him.
The scarboyz blew into the licter, and shredded him in seconds. The sluggaz also wiped out the gaunts, and Bob, who had come to help, found nothing to swing at. The kan vs termagaunt battle went poorly, as the genestealers rending claws penetrated one kan, destroying it, and glanced the other, also destroying it! That six on the glance table would be a telling die roll.
Turn 4.
The un-engaged fex reached out, and blasted Bob, who dutifully failed his 3+ armor save, to smithereens, His genestealers were now free, and blew into the remaining sluggaz on the right, wiping out all but the nob, who remained with one wound. Assaults by his brood lord on one skorcha buggy resulted in two more dead body guard, and a wound on the lord from spikes and blades. On the other side, his warriors attacked the other skorcha buggy, also wounding themselves twice, and another model fell to the upgrade. The fex swung but couldn’t connect with the kanz, and they wiped the beast out.
The tankbustas fired, and missed. The russ hit the remaining carnifex, and wounded it. Both skorcha buggies zoomed around, and slow roasted the remainder of the brood lord’s retinue and the remaining warrior.
With Bob and the sluggaz on the right gone, the scarboyz piled into the genestealers. That battle went poorly, as 8 scarz died to the higher initiave attacks, and I was only able to kill 4 with the nobz pklaws. The scarz ran and got away, but the slugga nob was wiped out. The kanz on the left star assaulted two of the flying brains and the remaining gargoyle, wiping out all three in assault.
Turn 5.
The remaining fex and brain shot at the advancing kans, stunning one of them. The genestealer rampage continued, and they blew into the worthless tankbustaz. Thanks to being in cover da boyz went first, and in a fit of inspiration, decided to use their rokkits in a more effective manner, clubbing the 8 stealers to death before the nob could even swing!
The kanz moved up, and assaulted the last fex and flying brain, killing the fex but loosing two kanz in return.
Turn 6.
We had two rounds of CC with the remaining kan and the brain, put one wound on it, but couldn’t’ kill it. The skorcha buggies zoomed back to capture the other two remaining loot icons.
Results.
Konviktz win. In the end he had the flying brain with one wound, and the brood lord (also wounded), while the Konvitkz still had the russ, one slugga boy mob at full strength, the tankbustaz at full strength, a grot mob below 50%, and one kan mob below 50%.
A tough fight. I didn’t tune my list, but I may have to the next time I play him! Those stealers were nasty, nasty, nasty! A tough fight for sure!
