Warboss Bobz Killa Konvitz vs 13th Company Space Wolves

1500 point league list (Triple Play Fall 40k League).

Da boyz were able to choose table side, but were to deploy first. Gork smiled on us though, and the Konviktz got first go!!!

Konviktz deloyment...

weedy, beakie, dog-breathed deployment...

Turn 1. The grots, kans, dreadnought, and slugga boyz surged forward. The looted russ maneuvered into a small group of trees for a better firing line, and the skorcha buggy moved up behind it to protect its vulnerable rear armor. The other buggies zoomed up for clear shots.

With a thunderous krash of noise, the boyz fired away at the weedy beakies.

One unit of shootaz, the big shoota buggy, and the grot slaver fired big shootaz into one tac squad on the far left flank, but couldn’t get one beakie boy to drop. The Kanz and Dread fired at the very large and disturbing Wulfen unit, also missing all of them. The other shoota boy unit got a bit luckier, and killed 3 wolfs with concentrated BS fire. The crescendo of fire ended with the deafening boom of the russ battle kannon, as it actually hit and killed a single Wulfen.

The sneaky git dropped his priest and a tac squad with melta and plasma guns on the side flank of the Russ for a softer armor shot, and his Wulfen and wolves advanced up the field.

His shooting was fortunately non-effective; only two las cannons in his long fang squad had shots at a unit of sluggaz, and vaporized one boy. The side shots came up empty on the russ, and he braced himself for the next turn.

Turn 2. WAAAAGH! Don’t touch that!!! The russ jerked forward exactly…. six inches (phew!) and didn’t fail it’s difficult terrain test as it rammed through the undergrowth.

The movement was enough to remove any shot on the dropped in tac squad though (no LoS). The grots, kans, and sluggas shifted to the right to counter the three bikes that had screamed down field at full speed, and one slugga unit slid up behind the russ. The skorcha trakk zoomed up for a shot though, and managed to not only kill one beakie, but put a wound on his priest as well!!!

Shooting remained the same as before, the far left tac squad sucked up 9,000 shots and made every bloody armor save. The wolves were decimated though by big shoota fire, and fell back, leaving just two models out the original ten. One more time the battle kannon roared out, and it hit – right on target, smashing three long fangs to the ground. In what would be decisive dice roll, they failed leadership, and bolted right off the table.

Ork assault crashed into the priest with the sound of crumpled paper, as just one slugga boy could make it into base to base, leaving just three models in the kill zone. The priest swung first, and killed one ork, and sadly managed two saves against the return 4 choppa attacks. Loosing, the sluggaz consolidated into the priest.

The sudden loss of his long fangs dealt a serious blow to his strategy, and ability to deal with heavy vehicles. His Wulfen, enraged at the enemy around them, raged forward six inches, and were in plenty range to assault the other slugga mob this turn.

His priest warped out of close combat, but left the tac squad behind, who soon rapid fired, and killed five sluggaz in a hail of bolter shells. The Wulfen did assault, and wiped out their entire kill zone, seven models strong. They remaining 13 boys stood their ground (of course!) and they all scrummed in.

Turn 3
. The shot up sluggaz moved up to surround the offending beakie unit, and the dreadnought and Warboss Bob himself moved up into assault range to help the boyz facin’ off with the Wulfen.

Another hail of fire raked the left side tac squad from the shoota boyz, buggies, grots, and kanz, killing one. The other side shoota boyz fired off at the advancing bikers, and managed to kill one. With it’s usual aplomb, the russ fired, and deviated heavily off of the bikers – right onto his wolf lord, killing him and his two pet wolves outright. Ouch.

The sluggas shot up one before charging, and in they went – in a simultaneous combat, three sluggaz fell, but all seven remaining beakies dropped to the choppas, wiping out the squad before the power fist could swing.

On the other side, Bob and the dreadnought crashed into the close combat, but the Wulfen, with their initiative of five, went first, and killed off another 6 sluggaz, and wounded Bob twice. I chose poorly to use Bob’z Klaw, and the remaining sluggaz killed three Wulfen, and the saavy bugger removed the one in base to base with Bob. The dread had it’s swings though, and between it and the powerklaw nob, three more Wulfen died, leaving just three left. The sluggaz and Bob made their leadership rolls, and stuck in for the fight.

His far left tac squad fired and killed three shootaz, and his bikes moved up to assault the flank of the Russ. Not having moved, it was an easy target, yet both his thunderhammer and powerfist wielding bikers failed to damage the russ other than to simply shake the crew!!! Quickly onto hand to hand, his Wulfen killed three more sluggaz, and were taken down in fury of chopaz, and burnaz.

Turn 4, 5, and 6:

The writing was on the wall by this time, highlights include his bikers being wiped out...

the russ failing another roll, jerking forward and tank shocking a slugga mob (who passed their test), 8000 big shoota shots from all units doing little to that tac squad on the left, his priest shooting at close range one buggy, causing a d6 explosion that killed him as well, and the remnants of that hardy tac squad assaulting another buggy, ramming a power fist down it’s engine compartment, causing that to blow as well, and killed off two of the remaining three models in the squad.

Results:

Ouch.

In the end, he had one tac beakie left. The Konviktz had accounted for 10 Wulfen, 5 Long Fangs, the priest, wolf lord, 12 wolves, one 10 man squad, and 9 of another 10 man squad. In return, we had one slugga boy mob below 50% (15 models killed), another above 50% (7 models killed), two destroyed buggies, a shoota boy mob above 50% (34 models killed), and Bob took two wounds.

A fair trade!!! Orks Win!
