1500 points, Mission Bunker Assault.
This was a suprise attack by a small movie (see White Dwarf 300 for full details on that list) Space Marine army on Goobaz mekshop.
I was unaware that he was using this list, and presumed that he was trying out his Ultramarines for the first time. To that effect, I took a basic defskull list - nothing too fancy or tuned. The weedy git didn't tell me until deployment that he was using the movie list! My list consisted of:.
Warboss Bob [lucky tatoos, eavy armor,
bionic bonce, choppa, kombi skorcha/shoota)
Lootaz, 9 with missile launcher, flamer, nob with plkaw and choppa, in a rhino transport.
Lootaz, 9 with 2 autocannons, nob with big shoota and choppa.
Lootaz, 6 with morter and grenade launcher
Sluggas (19 boys with 3 Bigshootaz, 1 nob with pklaw, shoota, and big gob)
Tankbustaz, 9 with 3 rokkitz, nob with rokkit and choppa
Gretchin (26 grots, 1 slavemaster with bigshoota, choppa, and squighound)
3 Killa Kans (extra armor, 2 big shootas, one rokkit.)
Looted chimera, extra armor, grot riggers
Looted Leman Russ Demolisher, extra armor, red paint, grot riggers.
When I set up this list, I was presuming that I was playing a standard 1500 point list of marines, so nothing tuned to crush him as it was his first outing. What a mistake that was!
The movie marines have a lot going for them. Multiple wounds, 3+ armor saves with a 3+ invulnerable takable after they fail the first armor save, BS 5, toughness 6, it goes on, and on. Worse yet were the stunt doubles - even after you wound on, if the player chooses a stunt double comes in and takes the wound! The only reason I killed the one marine is because my opponent Jeremey decided someone has to die in every movie. Othewise, those two powerklaw attacks would have been wasted.
Basically he simply advanced his marines, and shredded the orks with bolter fire. They count as rending weapons, so our armor was worthless, and as they are strength 6 weapons to boot, he was hitting and wounding on 2s. Not nice!
Good points were him missing two turns in a row with the missile launcher guy - needing twos to hit! That, putting a wound on the Hero with a morter round and pinning him, that was cool. A lot of ways the dice failed me - the kans only needed twos to glance the rhino, and came up empty, etc etc etc.
Next time if I face him, with this list, he's going to get it! Here's what I suggest. Lots of boyz. the marines were tough in h2h, but not unstoppable, especially with small numbers. So I'm saying lots of boyz, lots of pklaws and burnaz. And I mean lotz of boyz. Forget vehicles, although warbikes might be an option, and perhaps kanz as well.
We had so many good pictures from the battle, we decieded to post them all up here for your enjoyment.
