July 2005, Dexcon VIII, Brunswick, NJ.
Orkfest II was a follow up to last year's successful Orkfest mega battle at Dexcon. We had a lot of fun last year, and we had a lot of hope for this years based on our experience. Sadly the size of the battlefield (20x50!) and shallow deployment zones meant for three turns we did nothing but catch unpainted basalisk shells. Still, it was fun to hang out with the rest of the WAAAAGH!
The konviktz start rallying the toops deep in Konviktz kanyon. |
And arranged for WAAAAGH! |
Our end of the table showed the konviktz in the front screnning Sroston Green's metal boyz. Srumgrod Jeremy leant us support with his soon to be game winning Necrons. |
Across the way was 8k in Tau, plus two armored companies! (only one shown!) |
On my left, was this small stompa mob |
We were able to double move if you weren't shot at or shot, so the fast attack units got up almost to the objective. |
And the enemy armor lumbered forward. |
The rest of the ork army advanced, painfully slow... |
On the other end of the table, Nosher's ladz were getting stuck in on turn two versus deep striking terminators. |
The tau dropped about 8000 drones, here they pop in to take out the salamander |
and suceed in destroying the autocannon. |
Tau Air strike! |
The barricuda came in hard and fast, and destroyed Gooba'z Wrecka! |
Turns out he was a marked mek! |
On the other side of the table, we had our own kunning plan, as the tankbustas dropped in with this "orbital lander" |
and knocked the gun gun turret of the inquisitor's chimera. Our hope was to kill him, but sometimes plans don't always work out. |
We had our own airforce too, as the defsquadron arrived, shown here flying over the second armored company. |
Gooba was forced to walk, and he was non-too pleased. |
Even though the barracuda was shot down, the pilot still managed to evade the gretchin search teams... |
