Round 1 | Orks vs IG | Take and Hold | Winner - Orks! |
Notes:
This was a 1500 point battle, Take and Hold mission straight from the WH40k 3rd ediition rule book.
Battle Report:
Deployment - as decided by the dice, the IG would be defending this radar station on the airfield. They set up a defensive perimeter as the alarms sound from the incoming ork forces.
The Kult of Speed forces disembark from their orbital landers, and prepare their assault! Not included in this group was a leman russ, and two more warbuggies deployed at the other side of the long table edge.
Using the cover provided by the edge of the city, they advance rapidly towards the radar station, their fast vehicles proving worrisome for the defending Imperial Guard.
The first trukk is destroyed by accurate IG shooting, killing a trukk boy in the process.
Now completely irked, the trukkboyz charge in, supported by another mob. The defending IG squad is quickly wiped out by the charging orks.
Uh oh. That's about to change as his Ogryns show up.
With the target of the ork assault clearly in place, the IG moves in their reinforcements.
Two well placed flamer templates reduce the ork numbers to less than half and the Ogryns assault! How quickly the tide of battle shifts!
A few orks survive long enough for the bike mounted warboss and a couple of bikes to counter attack. Luckily all made their difficult terrain rolls. There is no joy among the IG, as the warboss alone accounts for four ogryns and the commissar. The defenders collapse.
As the death toll on both sided begins to mount, the orks move their remaining troops in to consolidate their hopeful victory.
Mortars destroy an empty trukk, but the battle wagon and tankbusters unleash their weaponry on who ever they can. The final result was 5 ork units touching or on the objective to 3 Imperial Guard. Orks Win! |
