- Day 1 (June 21, 2003)

The first day we walked around and just soaked in the Warhammer atmosphere. We were scheduled for a 2:45 registered game, so after a chicken wing and draft beer lunch at Hooters, we were off! This was a short day, as it was only open from 2 - 7 PM.

Space Wolves! As a loyal reader, you know that with the Storm Lords I use bikes, so I ended up with these 4 bikes, an attack bike, and a venerable dreadnought as my units to command. Behind me, my friend Vinnie had two 15 man blood claw squads, and an Iron Priest. Our young friend at the end dealt death from afar with a long fangs squad, a whirlwind, and a razorback.
This was a table quarters mission, and our opponents were the Sisters of Battle. Facing my side of the table were two immolators, two squads of battle sisters in rhinos, and another foot slogging squad.
Here are the immolators, and on the other side of the table three more squads of sisters, two with rhinos!.
Our tactical plan was for me to contest my quarter, we would hold our original one, and try and wrest the other near side quarter for the win. Here my units fan out, the bikes moving up the table behind the cover of the trees, the Dreadnought doing the same, and the attack bike lending it's heavy bolter to the troops facing the blood claws.
The long fangs took out one immolator, the other one moved up quickly without any squad support.
A whoosh of flame killed a biker, forcing them to retreat for the moment.
We danced in the woods, the attack bike moving up to potentially contest the far table quarter, but after absorbing a tremendous amount of fire power, it was killed. The dreadnought was stunned, but not immobilized - after 3 penetration hits on its back! the immolator pursued the bikes, but couldn't wound this time, and they paid it back for the biker it killed.

Elsewhere, the bloodclaws advanced across the table under the supporting fire of the longfangs, razorback, and whirlwind The Iron Priest lived up to his name, as he sucked up about 30 shots without a wound. The blood claws got into hand to hand, and swept the sisters before them, cleansing a whole table quarter. The end result was the Wolves owning 2 quarters, the Sisters of Battle 1. A Wolf Victory!

In case you are wondering why we're showing this blood claw model, well, poor Vinnie, in the first shot he fired at Gamesday, rolled a 1 to hit with the plasma pistol, and subsequently failed his armor save.

The ignominy!

After that victory, our friend Jon showed up, he had been delayed in traffic. We walked around and got in on the Eye of Terror mega battle that was going on. No pictures, unfortunatley. Vinnie and I ended up on the Cadian side, myself driving a leman russ; Vinnie a squad of troopers and a chimera. Jon was chaotic, playing with a unit of deamons. I sat in the tank and blasted everything I could, a defiler directly across from me landed a square battle cannon shot on my front armor that did not damage; but with the Emporer's blessing we took it out with a las cannon shot. After that there wasn't much to threaten the Russ except for an aspiring chaos champion who foot slogged all the way across the table, and just before he could assault he found himself facing the battle cannon up close and personal. That was it for the first day - see ya!
