Fantasy Inn

Mix some downtime, hard card , tape, and coffee sticks, and you get a nice two story inn with an attached kitchen!

UPDATED 11/10/04

basic construction: card taped together into a box shape.

The basic outline with a gorkamorka model for scale
Coffee stirrers go on next to "frame" the walls. Once the glue from these dry, the structure is a lot more rigid.
Basic roof for the entry. note that the overall size of the building was set by the size of the available cardstock.
Index card, cut into single shingles and glued to the roof surface.
the kitchen door and some windows were added (also coffee stirrers)
Chimney's were created from pink insulation foam. Cut slight slits into the foam with a hobby knife, and than depress each slit with a pen to make the shape.
The main chimney - after the outline was done, a coat of glue and water over the chimeny before spray painting.
I added foamcore eves and a craft stick main header for the roof, and beefed out the kitchen roofline as well with foamcore.
The main roof sections were tiled off the building.
With the roofs on.
back side.
A first coat of paint - vomit brown. This went on after the "plaster' coat of modeling sand and gesso had dried.
The front door is a cast resin piece that I had lying around, I thought the front door should be special.
I've started to base the model, the roof is now painted, and the main paint drybrushed with bleached bone. The wall section in the front is made the same way as the chimneys.
Here it is with the base color down (vomit brown)

And with a lightening of flesh
Bascially done, it just needs a sign...
