We set ourselves to explore part of the surrounding countryside. Being only 40 miles from Cambridge, we thought we would take in this famous university town.
To our great joy, and to the dismay of our cardiac systems, RAF Lakenheath has a Donutland (generic donut store). Now wait a minute - we don't normally eat these things, being as loaded in fat and nastiness as they are, but you would be surprised the things that sound appealing after you have been living abroad for a while. Anyway, we choked down a couple of these overpriced nasties, and headed off in the rain to Cambridge.
This part of England, East Anglia, is for the most part flat and featureless. The drive was uninspiring, but this was as well as being on the "wrong" side of the road (and car!) required a bit of attention on my part.
