In the spring of 2001, we visited the D-Day Beaches of Normandy. Very, very impressive. We strongly recommend you visit them if you can, not only for the historical impact, but in the wake of the September 11th. terrorist attacks, from the viewpoint of the cost of freedom.

Being somewhat of a history buff, this was an area that I had always wanted to visit, and despite my stay there cut short by less interested fellow travelers, I greatly enjoyed it and would like to return.
