Mt. Saint Michel is considered one of the most holy sites in France, and for centuries it has attracted pilgrims and tourists alike.
It is really a monastery/church surrounded by a town, and despite it's touristy nature, it is well worth the visit, as the structure is truly amazing.
An island at high tide, make sure your car is safely parked! We were very lucky when we were there, in that there was a small group of young ladies singing hymns inside - with the acoustics of the building, it was a fantastic moment in time.
