We stopped for lunch in Bernardswiller, which consisted of a local beef stroganoff and beer. As we were leaving, we amazed one little girl by lowering the roof of the car, she was simply awestruck by the process, open-mouthed, and we knew than that she didn't really get out too often.
We drove up to Mt. St. Odile, an ancient monastery that commands incredible view of the entire wine country.
Mt. St. Odile is about 8 kilometers uphill from the wine valley, and is a functional hotel. Reservations may be made by phone, or by fax. No entrance fee is charged to walk around and take in the views. Public Bathrooms are available.
