We took a nice trip to Bordeaux during the harvest season of 2000.
We spent five days in the region, tromping across the French soil in a large piece of Germany machinery (just like everyone else in the 20th Century!).
After five days we got a good feel for the area, and some of the towns we enjoyed most we St. Emilion, and St. Estephe. As most of you know, all Bordeaux blends, and we came to prefer the blends with a higher Merlot content, such as from St. Estephe. Every region and town in Bordeaux has its own blend, so if you try one Bordeaux wine, please do not give up on them all.
We also tried a few whites that were a pleasant surprise, such as a Chateaux Talbot, but our biggest find was a wine from the Cote du Bourge, Roc du Combe. A blend as well, but an excellent wine, and at the time not imported into the US.

I unfortunately did not get a chance to drink them all, as a few were stolen by the Nazi party during their period of covert operations. A true waste indeed, as those tasteless swine probably consumed it with cheerios
