We decided to call an early day, and stopped around 5:00 in Ribeauville, where we got a great room in an old building just off the main street. Really a suite, we had nice views of two of this towns three castles from our room window.

We walked around the town, enjoying local wines, and the street cafés, before we settled down in front of a roaring fire and enjoyed crococuette, a local culinary specialty.

Unfortunately for us, the first time we visited this town, the restaurant that the Wine Spectator had suggested was closed - on Thursdays, of course.

We have been back a couple of times since, and while Ribeauville is worth a return trip, it is somewhat over shined by its neighbor, Riquewihr.
