Chateaux Beufort, Luxembourg |
We drove to Beufort from Vianden, where we stopped to pick up bread, cheese, and sausage that would prove to be our only substance for the day. We left Vianden, and set course for a couple of small towns that had castles of their own. We first reached Beufort, where we visited this small town's châteaux. Now mostly ruins, this castle was impressive in its "medievalness". Enough of the castle still stood to occupy a goodly amount of time, including a 5-story tower that we were able to climb. We greatly enjoyed this castle, and took a short walk along a nature trail along a lake that was across from the site.
The Chateaux is open year round, and a small entrance fee is charged for the castle itself. There is a small snack bar that sells food and local liquors, and public bathrooms are available.
