Chateaux Spontin

Driving along the Meuse river, a beautiful river valley, we visited a number of quaint towns such as Profondevile, Annevoie, and Spontin. Spontin had a fantastic old castle, one that was "rebuilt" after it's military usefulness had come to an end. This rebuild put it into a more habitable form, and it became a fortified manor. We disturbed the castle staff during their lunch, but the elderly gentlemen broke free of his wine and bread to give us a lengthy history of the structure (in English). At long last, free of his discourse as well as other tourists, we crawled through the structure, and enjoyed its double moats and towers.

Open year round, a small entrance fee is charged. Bathrooms are available.
