Dakka Dakka Mega Battle - 2 November 2002

Dakka Dakka hosted another one of their no holds barred Mega Battles. VDR, Titans, if you built it, you can bring it. As you can bring multiple army lists, we brought the Eldar - mostly because we have two Farseer Models, and only a single warboss, so that meant the orks had to stay home (and we used the Space Marines the last time).

This was again a multi table battle, with the overall goal being control of the two warpgates that were located on two of them. As it turned out, we ended up being on one of those tables, and with another Eldar player, we were attacking the two Space Marine companies that were determined to defend it. Both our and our allies' forces used the generic Eldar Rules, while our opponents were Dark and Blood Angels.

Here is our actual roster for the two army lists that we brought.

Craftworld Orkan Baharr -

Roster - Force Hammer (2150pts)

Roster - Force Anvil (1850pts)

The results? A massive slaughter of the Emperor's Finest. It was so one sided that they stopped the battle on turn 4. A lot of this had to do with the fact that the attackers (us) got to go first. Eldar, on the attack, and going first, is a very good thing from the Eldar viewpoint. Basically we shot the bejesus out of them the first two turns, and only than moved up for the up close and personal kill.

Here is a list of our losses, and what we killed. Yes, that's three different 10 man tac squads we wiped out - not a typo! In troops alone, the kill ratio was over 2 to 1 (28 Eldar dead vs 54 Marines); and vehicles were even more impressive - 5 to 1 (1 Eldar vehicle destroyed vs 5.5 Marine).

Craftworld Orkan Baharr Forces Prepare for their assault from the West...
And from the East. That's 4000pts looking at ya!
On the other end of the table, another 3000pts of Eldar prepare to crush the Mon-Keigh guarding the Warpgate.
Certainly nervous, all of the Dark Angle units visible wouldn't last past turn three
And their Blood Angel Brethren on the other side of the table wouldn't fair much better. Yes, that's a baneblade in the upper right corner.
Right out of the bat, Warp Spiders and fleet of footing banshees make it into hand to hand with this assault squad. With some back up from the jet bikes, the assault squad was wiped out in two rounds of hand to hand, with zero Eldar casualties.
Consolidating after their hard hitting assault, the squads prepare to devour the tac squad located dead ahead.
The banshees engage and take down the tac squad. Unseen here are the warp spiders, they jumped ahead and blasted the heck out of the dreadnought, immobilizing it and removing it's las cannons. After that we just left it alone - what harm could it do?
With the hole opened up by the banshees and spiders, the eldar begin to advance in earnest in turn 3
A wave serpent glides up and unloads its cargo of wraithguard. Good by, mister Predator. In an interesting trick, the still mobile Dark Angels dreadnought charged the banshees. Only the Exarch could damage it, and even though she could acrobat to its rear, she was unable to do so as there were too many banshees (didn't loose any!) As a result, he refused to fight them, so they spent the rest of the game just sitting there. Sort of cheesy, if you ask me

The eldar continue their advance towards the warpgate.

Our major loss. This falcon carrying fire dragons takes a hit from a shoulder mounted las cannon and goes down, killing three of the dragons as well.
This wave serpent gracefully swung around and unloaded its wraithguard cargo.
At the end of the day, Eldar jetbikes made it to the warpgate, helping to support brother Eldar foot troops.

This was a lot of fun. Thanks again to DAKKA DAKKA
