Turn 5.
The
Space Wolf Gray Hunters, with great disdain to the alien enemy, charge
out from behind the building they were using as cover, and move into the
middle of the roadway.
The
lone Blood Claw, cursing the alien scum to Odin, emerges from the corner
of the building below Biterolf. Spying the enemy all around him, he sprays
shots at the retreating ork foot troops, and turns to engage one of the
three walking monstrosities that face him. With a mighty crash, he repeatedly
pounds his power axe against the steel sided beast, each blow ringing
like Vulcan's hammer. As his fury abates, he realizes that he has
been unable to damage the machine, and watches with silent resolve as
it's whirling buzz saw rips cleanly though his body.
Biterolf sees his brethren so disposed, curses within his sarcophagi, and triggers a burst of autocannon fire that catches another alien walker, the stream of shells finding their target as the machine explodes and slides face down into the middle of the bridge.
The
Long Fangs fire at the approaching ork trukk, most of their shots missing
wide, but a heavy bolter connects, and finding the fuel tank, engulfs
the trukk into a cloud of flame and smoke. The orks inside bail out, but
these aliens are apparently used to this sort of thing, and all but two
emerge from the wreck. A burst of coherent light reaches out from
the Long Fang position and finds another Ork walker, causing this one
to simply explode in place.
The retreating mob of shoota boyz, encouraged by the mass of the advancing sluggas, decide the fight for them isn't quite over yet, and they regain their composure enough to launch two missiles at the 'umie dreadnought. Unfortunately for them it was not enough composure, and both projectiles miss by a wide margin.
On the bridge, the Tiggz Trukkaz completely irritated by the fact that they were no longer trukkaz, move towards the 'umies, firing their sluggas as they advance, the combined fire enough to kill one Gray Hunter. With a WAAAGH! they charge, and manage to kill another Space Wolf. In a decimating counter strike, the Gray Hunters meet their charge with a cold reserved fury, and kill 4 of the trukkaz and manage to wound Tigg the nob himself.
Slipping
in the green blood of his boyz, Tigg is stunned to see the large teeth
of a Fenresian Wolf attach themselves to his throat, and as he goes down,
the remaining three boyz flee back across the bridge.
The slugga
boyz continue to move onto the bridge, still eager to meet the ‘umie invaders,
and the one remaining Killa Kan attempts to make it through the strewn
wreckage of its companions.
