Operation Patch

Mission: R.2. Bunker Assault

Turn 4:

Another shriek rents the air as the Whirlwind delivers its devastating payload on the 'ard boyz, killing four of the armored orks. Biterolf shifts his aim from the advancing ork dreadnought, and takes aim squarely at the Warboss's trukk.  An assault cannon round punches into Dunzog the gunner's seat, putting a neat hole in his pants. Startled beyond belief, the trukk is unable to shoot the next turn.

The Leman Russ turret pivots, and fires as well at the Wartrukk, further stunning the crew so that it may neither move or shoot. A second autocannon shot is deflected harmlessly by the 'eavy chevy's extra armor plating.

Two more burna boys go down in combined shooting from the Gray Hunters inside their Rhino and the remaining Blood Claw bikes, but the burnas hold their ground. Across the road way from the shoota buggy goes up in flames from an accurate shot by the Long Fangs, and the rokkit trakk is once again stunned by a lascannon shot.

The Wolf Guard open up on the 'ard boyz, but their storm bolters are unable to penetrate the crude protective armor of the orks. The assault cannon, however, takes down two.

The stikkbommas loose two more of their number, one to the storm bolter on the Rhino, and another to a pistol fired from inside. Now down to only four, the stikkbommas finally break, and begin to flee the tower.

A sniper rifle punches one stormboy in the face, killing him outright, but da loonz ignore the incoming fire.

Finally the remainder of the ork relief forces arrive on site. On the southern edge the Zzap Dragon, a custom designed ork "tank" appears behind da grotstompa...

...and on the northern edge a full 30 ork mob of sluggas and da klunkaz (killa kans) advance onto the battlefield.

In the ruined tower, the four fleeing stikkbommas run smack into the 'ard boy mob, and more especially the nob, who "encourages" them to return to the fight. Thusly "encouraged" the stikkbommas mob up with the 'ard boys and return to the fight.

The ZZap Dragon lights up its namesake weapon on the Space Wolf Dreadnought,  immobilizing the walker.  da Grotstompa, not about to be outdone by dem gits in da dragon, finally connects with is rokkit launcher, and manages to further immobilize Biterolf.

North of the road, da Klunkaz fire their big shootas, causing two wounds on the Wolf Guard, only to have both of them negated by the Wolf Guard's runic wards. In frustration, the ork in the final kan beats his control panel, and breaks the firing stud for his rokkit launcher (forgot to fire it).

da loonz launch themselves into the air again, dropping within a very close distance to the Wolf Priest. Another loon crashes horribly upon landing, as the rokkit drives him face foward into the ground at high speed. Now only a few scant meters away from the Priest, the loonz fire their sluggas in hope of knocking him down. Lead flies in all directions, but the loonz fail to connect with their target. Not hesitating for a moment, they immediately touch off the rokkits, and blast their way into assault.

Another loon crashes hard into the ground, this time the rokkit pushes him along the ground until the body is nothing but a bloody corpse. The remainder of the loonz make it into hand to hand combat, and the orks finally do what they do best - get stuck in.

All the bouncing around makes the orks fail their WAAGH charge, and the Wolf Priest attacks first, causing a wound on a loon. The Nob Sturmgar attacks the Rhino with his tankbusta bomb, smiling as he is guaranteed a hit (the Rhino hadn't moved). He quickly attaches the bomb to the front of the Rhino, and pulls the pin. Nothing happens - another dud device (rolled double ones for armor penetration - can you believe it?). Vern the mekboy is going to be happy he was killed in the first turn once Bob here's about this!

His boyz fair better, as the Wolf Priest is overcome by the remaining loonz on the field, he falls to the savage attacks of their choppas.
