Turn 1:
With a cleverness not unlike their namesakes from their home
planet of Fenris, the Space Wolves decide to advance from the north and
south (short table sides) instead of down the main road as the foolish
Orks expected.
Moving slowly though the soft ground, the Wolf Guard unit on the southen side of the bunker open fire on the orks guarding the strongpint, shooting down 2 ork stikkbomma boyz that were caught dozing in the sun.
From there carefully chosen position in the ruins of an old temple, Wolf Scouts manage to kill one shoota boy behind the sandbag emplacement with their plasma gun, both sniper rifles missing their mark.
On
the northern edge, the Iron and Wolf Priests open up simultaneously, and
manage to drop another two of the shoota boyz. Not to be outdone, the
Venerable Dreadnought Biterolf kills another 3 shoota boyz in a hail of
lead from his autocannon.
With a deafening roar, the Whilwind announces it's presence on the battlefield by firing, - launching a barrage at the ork Warboss and his retinue. Off target, the ordinance manages to hit two killa kans and two of the Warboss's nobz. Unable to damage the Kans, thanks in no small part the extra armor they sport, the firing does manage to knock two nobz flat to the ground.
Ignoring the fallen bodies around them, the Shoota boys decide to stick it out, and adjust their position to better bring their weapons to bear. Eagerness makes them pack themselves tight against the sandbag wall separating themselves from the 'umies.
Bob kicks the two wounded nobz into the 'eavy Chevy, and they all head north though the encampment to deal with the larger threat.
Still waking up, the burna boyz huddle together, unsure of what to do (dopes rolled a 2 for movement)
Somewhat
confused inside their armored shells, the three Killa Kans known
as the Klunkaz, they move forward and circle back to back in the middle
of the roadway, with two of them facing south.
Awoken
by the sound of their comrades dying by lead poisoning, the Stikkbommas,
unable to resist the temptation, jump over the protective earthen
berm and advance towards the ‘umies. invaders. Firing wildly as
they crest the top, they manage to shake the crew of the advancing rhino
with a big shoota
One of the Kanz fires a rokkit, and manages to actually hit the rhino as well, causing a penetrating hit, immobilizing it.
With a mighty crash the Shootas let loose at the advancing Space Wolves, but are unable to hit anything with their fusillade.
Bob
and his boyz in the back of the 'eavy Chevy open fire on the Wolf priest,
shootaz blazin, but hit nothing. Mad Dok Bludcutta, manning the pintal
mounted big shoota adds his fire, but only confirms that he is as bad
a shot as he is a "doctor". Only Dunzog, the 'eavy Chevy's gunner,
manages to find its mark, as the trukk's rokkit flies straight and drops
the Wolf Priest in violent explosion, that certainly must have killed
him outright. Much to the orks consternation, (do orks know what
consternation means?) the Priest is still standing, no doubt thanks to
the good favor of the Iron Wolf Amulet that he is wearing.
