Battle Report

Triple play on the Mall
Lebanon, NH

 

So Bob and Zorbag got into a bit of a tussle, arguing over the scraps from the last tournament, and, well, like most orky "discussions", it ended up in a full blown fight.

My list was basically the same one I had against the Movie Marines.

Bob
Lots o' grots
2 x 20 slugga boy mobz, one with 3 bs, one with 2 bs and a burna, both with nobz and claws
10 burna boyz with 4 burnaz, mek, oilers, and kff
20 ard boyz with 1 bs, 2 burnaz, nob with klaw.
3 kanz with armor plates and bs
3 kanz with armor plates and rokkitz

vs

Zorbag with retinue (nobz, klawz, BSs, in truck)
2 x 10 trukkaz with nobz and BSs
1 x 10 tankbustaz with nob
2 x buggies with BSs
2 x buggies with BSs
Looted lemen russ
Guntrukk with zzap

We had a bystander roll up the mission - cleanse, and alpha. We set terrain, and I won the table quarter. Guess which one I chose?

Mork seemed to favor me, as I won the choice of turns. Being cleanse, and alpha, I hemmed and hawed, and finally gave him first turn.

Turn 1:

Mork, turned his back on me.  The freakz moved up, and began blasting the literal snot out of my units. Zorbag's russ capped one can, got a six on a penetration roll, and another six for the blast radius! Ouch! Four grots got killed, and two regular boyz behind them. The other unit of kanz was stunned from his preliminary bombardment, and I was left with only one out of six that could shoot, the zzap gun stunning and immobilizing one of the others. Boy was I thinking going second was a huge mistake!

I shuffled up as I could, moving the grots and far side sluggaz out, and slid up the ardboyz to take some shots with their only BS.  The mekboy slid out with the oilers, and repaired the immobilized kan.  Konvitk fire managed to pop one truck, killing two trukkaz as they dismounted, pinning them.

Turn 2:

He moved his warboss truck back up a little, and his gun truck farther along the flank. Two buggies zoomed at full speed down the table edge, knicking in behind cover. His fire again ravaged the kanz, this time destroying another one, and re-stunning and ripping the arm off of another one. A few grots died as well.

I shifted the grots and far side sluggaz to try and deal with the sneaking buggies, and was able to repair the arm on the kan. I advanced the 'ardboyz out, and the grots as well. My shooting - poor, except for the boss's truck, as that was blown up and a nob died bailing out. His dismounted trukka squad also suffered a loss as the Nob was forced to be removed due to a quirky shooting deal (the 'ardboy burna)

Turn 3:

Zorbagz boyz shot at the 'ardboyz, killing a couple, and his tankbustaz continued to rain a ton of rokkits (he was hitting 3 out of 4 rokkits a turn!) on the kans, killing a few more. His russ trundled forward and aimed at the 'ardboyz, but deviated hopelessly off. His few trukkaz that lost their ride charged out of the trees and into the 'ardboyz, but thanks to good model removal, the 'ardboy nob was now engaged. The combat went quickly, as, simply put, it was over as the 'ardboyz, with nob, won the combat, and the trukkaz fell back faster than the scrap wearin' konviktz could catch.

The 'ardboyz moved forward towards the dismounted Zorbag and his nob squad, and Bob jumped out of the building and charged forward as well. The mekboy tried to repair the still damaged kan (the one with the busted klaw), but actually failed. The far left sluggaz lined up shots, and immobilized one of the buggies that was threatening on that flank. The remaining two kans moved forward, and took a pot shot at the russ that missed. The only other good shooting was the sluggaz holding down the building stunning the guntrukk, keeping that damn zzap out of the fight (Zorbag rolled up under str 6 every time - but his ap rolls were insane!) The burnaz had slid up, and unleased a couple of jets of flame, whittling down the tankbustaz by a couple, but not enough to break them.

Bob was able to assault the retreating trukkaz, and killed all but one, taking just one wound in return. The 'ardboyz, after firing on the way in, managed to kill all of the nobs but one, and between the nobs with swings and Zorbag himself, five ardboyz went down. Than the 'ardboy nob swung his klaw, all against Zorbag - hitting, and wounding five times. (Bobz gonna have to keep an eye on this nob!) The 'ardboyz wiped out the remaining nob as he tried to flee like the weedy goff he wanted to be, and consolidated mostly back into cover.

Turn 4:
The russ hit with it's cannon, but did little damage, and the tankbustas destroyed yet another kan. His left flank buggy bolted and stranded his other one, trying to  get out of BS range by my slugga boy mob.  Fire also caused the burnaz to break, and they fled back into the building.

His assault proved solid, crashing into the 'ardboyz and killing off most of them, but they held. Bob wiped out the remaining trukkboy, and moved out of terrain (I was thinking about assaulting the tankbustaz).

Konviktz turn, Bob came back to the truck boy combat, and my one fully functional can moved up, and assaulted the russ, shredding it with its buzzsaw.

Turn 5: 

The remaining freak trukka mob moved up, and prepared to assault the thinning 'ardboyz. His tankbustaz lined up shots, and blew the snot out of the kan that had crushed the leman russ. His far left buggy moved again to avoid the sluggaz, and his other buggies unloaded on the sluggaz in the building, killing 3.

.His assault proved solid, crashing into the 'ardboyz and killing off most of them, but they held. Bob wiped out the remaining trukkboy, and moved out of terrain (I was thinking about assaulting the tankbustaz).

My left side sluggaz finally got a bead on the last buggy down there, and blasted it, securing both my home, and the other table quarter for good. Shooting fire raked the tankbustas, killing acouple, but they held, as did the trukkaz who killed bob.  My  burnaz rallied though.

The klawless kan assaulted his tankbustaz, and failed to kill any. He landed a tankbuster bomb, but the armor plates finally shrugged it off.The 'ardboy/trukka combat went his way, and Bob was left with no swings back , the 'ardboy nob fled, leaving Bob all alone against 6 trukkaz

Turn 6:

With the last Kan in CC, his gun truck had no target other than grots - kind of a waste.

Close combat went his way, poor Bob getting taken down by his nob this time.

Without much left on the table, it swung to my turn.

The grot slaver put a single glancing round into the gun truck, and a six! For damage! Boom!

The game was over. I had three quarters (the damaged, but mobile kan captured one with the gun truck dead), to his one.
