Day 7, March 9, 2003

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! We started off at WallyWorld, where we found the light fixtures we were looking for, as well as a few other small bitz. True to form, Garbo worked in the kitchen, and Karen went back into the wall paper war zone. We quit early today, 5ish, as we had some chores at the apartment to attend to.

These were the exact lights we were looking for - Home Depot was out of them, but Walmart had them for $9.97 each!

You can see how much brighter the kitchen is now with the walls finished, ceiling painted, new lights, and the cabinets touched up.
Here's the before picture on the cabinets...
And the after. Nice change!
She's smiling because she's almost done! After 5 days and a ton of help, the paper is off, the walls washed, and tomorrow we fill in the divots.
Thank god this job is almost done!
We were unsure what to do about the hardware on the kitchen cabinets, so we decided to clean up the existing ones.

Here's a typical hinge. Believe it or not they are chrome, but with at least 3 coats of paint and varnish.

Ditto with the handles. These are the cool push button ones, so we decided to keep them. They're soaking in denatured alcohol right now, so stay tuned to see how they come out.
