Day 8, March 10, 2003

Karen continued her dining room work, as Garbo finished the kitchen trim work, cabinet doors, and continued to work on the hardware. We called it an early night (9 PM) as we were both at a good breaking point.

No, we are not reusing pictures of Karen in the dining room; she is just trapped there.

Equipped with dual spacklers, she patches the holes she and my father put in the walls during the infamous wall paper removal. Don't you wish all handy men could be so cute?
Here is an example of just one corner of the room. Can you say fill, sand, paint, fill, sand, paint....
Ok, the kitchen walls are now as done as they are going to be. Again, here's the before shot
And the same wall now that it's been finished. Quite a change! We'll paint the door once we are actually in the house. Next on the kitchen list are the cabinet doors, ceramic tile counter, and new vynal flooring!
Soaking the hardware in denatured alcohol is working ,as this paper plate of clean handles will attest.
Here again is a before picture of a typical handle, covered with 3 layers of paint and varnish

and the after. These are cool push button handles, now in shiny chrome! The hinges are proving more problematic, though.
