Day 12, March 14, 2003

Friday night found ourselves aided by Sherry and Mikala. Karen was running a little late, so the added help was nice.

Here's a before shot of the downstairs bedroom. More paneling. We were hoping to do a quickie paint job, and didn't' want to spend the time necessary to prep the walls (sanding and primer). We brought the Wagner back out, but the paint was running down the walls, and we had to go back and roll the surfaces. It was still a fast job though, and we'll see how it looks after a second coat of (rolled) paint.

Sherry is touching up the dining room walls.
Besides painting our kitchen tiles, Mikala was good with walls too. So what if she's only in second grade - If child labor is good enough for Kathy Lee Gifford, it's good enough for us!
And later that evening, Karen sanded the last few patches.
The girls laid down paper in the hallway and living room in preparation for painting.
This abortion is in the bathroom. That overhead fixture has to go!.
The hated toilet. We can't wait to rip this one out and install the new Kohler..
As tomorrow will be a tile laying day, we played a little with the spacing.
Mikala helped us out by hand painting these tiles with a fleur de lis design for our backsplash. We fired them in an oven at 300 degrees for an hour. She used a template, and did a great job for a second grader! These will give a nice touch, all for about $5 in materials.
We also replaced all the electrics in the kitchen, including GFI outlets.
