Day 14, March 16, 2003

After yesterday's problems, Sunday swept in like a breath of fresh air. We were expecting a horde of help, but we encountered a number of no-shows, with the exception of brother Jim who solved a hairy wiring problem in the bathroom. We're getting closer to finishing phase I of our renovations! Check it out!

Lets back up a step, and take a look at the old kitchen counter.

Well after yesterday's run to Home Depot, here's what it looks like now.
Got to love those fleur de lis!!
Voila! Dees on is fini!
Here she goes! With a can of paint in her hot little hands, she's off!.
My niece Bridgett helped out, lending her painting expertise to the dining and living rooms. My other niece Andrea helped too, but we didn't have the camera ready. What a family!
The living room start to come along nicely under a coat of new paint.
The dining room walls look fantastic!
Here's that darn juggler again. Try to look past him at the wall.
And now look at that wall. Ama zing..
Meanwhile elsewhere in the casa, here's that nasty (and currently only) bathroom.
Take a look at that awful laminate wall covering. We taped the room, including the mirror, and applied a hearty coat of BIN.
They are sort of hard to see, but that gaggle of wiring is from the nasty overhead light we removed. The trick now was to figure out what was what, and how to make it work for our new light. I pulled the yellow wire through the wall to power it.
Brother Jim showed his stuff though, and quickly had the wires figured out. Here he's fitting a box in the ceiling to contain all the goofball wiring. Note that by now the room as a full undercoat of BIN.
Here's the bathroom with the first coat of finish paint on the walls. Note the lack of wire coming from the ceiling.
etc.
If you look back a few pictures, you can see the wire jungle. Now, they're tied up neatly in the box in the ceiling, and the new wires for the wall lights. Thanks Jim!
Here's the living room fireplace as we first saw it.
and here's how it looks now. Don't' worry, we are changing the lights.
