Kersey
Back

Kersey is a tiny town located about 10 miles from Lavenham, about 20 kilometers northeast of Ipswich.

Kersey simply blows away Lavenham for quaintness and historical effect. Basically a one street town, a wonderful stone church dominates one hill overlooking the street and ford.

Yup, you read this right, a honest to goodness river ford. No bridge, no culvert - you drive right through the river. The security of this ford is protected by a large family of ducks, who, despite rumors of a violent nature, were quite docile.

Violent ducks these were not. If you squint, this one does look a little cross, though. (Mar 1999)

Travelers keep their feet dry by using the pedestrian bridge above the ford. (Mar 1999)

This is the pub in Kersey that we wanted to go to, but it was closed up tight (Mar 1999)

Here's the pub we did go to, the White Horse. Chock full of locals, we had an entertaining afternoon tea. (Mar 1999)
