Aci Castello is located just north of Catania on what is known as the Rivera de Ciclopi, or coast of the cyclops.
The Castello Norman in Aci Castello (April 1999)
Legend has it that the rocks found off the waters here were thrown at Odysseus by the blinded Cyclops, Promethous. Regardless of where the rocks come from, they provide excellent snorkeling, and a lot places to access the water.
The castle, built by the Normans in the 11th. Century is well preserved and open to the public at no cost. After touring the castle, grab a roasted chicken from a roadside stand for dinner. Stuffed with peppers, potatoes, and olives, yum yum yum.
