Paterno, Sicily

Roger II built the castle here in 1047 on top of a crag that stands in the center of town. Clustered around the castle are a number of main religious buildings: The Chiese Madra (also founded by the Normans and rebuilt in the 14th Century) and San Francesco.

Our house in Sicily was 5 kilometers from this castle, and we could see it from the road to our villagio.
