As seen in White Dwarf North American Edition, #321, Orctober 2006!.
The Ruined Building
Completed 7/21/006
The building is based on simple foam core poster board
I cut out the basic wall shapes, with windows, and held it in place with tape as a size test.
Next up were the lower window sills, and vertical columns.
The brick sections you see are from a model railroad store; they will be exposed in the final product.
With the size correct, I glued the whole thing together.
and added the two floors. In order to make this work with the standard GW Cities of Death, each level is three inches in height.
More window sills added in as well.
And a sample run with the helipad in place.
You might also notice that the first set of street lights, and the concrete texture are on as well.
In order to make this more realistic, I covered the upper two floors with plasticard "tiles", and applied them to the surface individually. Also visible in this shot are the pieces of rebar.
another shot of the tiles and rebar.
With the OR in place for sizing
and with both the OR and helipad in place.
It was at this time that it was decided to move the OR and dump the helipad, it was just getting too complicated
This approximate location seemed to work better.
With that worked out, the rubble and sawdust was added to the base.
and with the OR and da Swamp.
black primer coat. | |
And with shadow gray on the walls, and scorched brown on the sidewalk. That's scab red on the exposed brick sections, and codex gray on the vertical columns.
The inside got bleached bone
and the tiles were again done with scab red and shadow gray.
and the weathering coats applied. The edges were hit with Tamiyas smoke, and fortress gray drybrushing to tie it all in.
And with the OR (still not weathered) in place.
