M*O*S*H - Mobile Ork Surgikal Hospital

Even orks need a place to fall back to now and then, to have that severed arm re-attached, or better yet, improved though ork augmentation! Not known for their sanitary conditions, a M*O*S*H is often constructed out of scavenged materials and very close to the action, only the Dokz tools and spare bitz make it from location to location, courtesy of his orderlies.

This M*O*S*H, belonging to the Killa Konviktz, was set up in the ruins of imperial building on Medusa V. Grots set about clearing the ground, the buildings quickly erected, and in operation shortly thereafter. Casualties limp, crawl, or are dragged or flown in by the Dokz own choppa.

Make the basis of the ruined building with a foam core structure. Cover the foam core with a textured mixture to represent a concrete surface. Represent exposed re-bar using small pieces of paper clips. Mount the ruined building on ¼ inch hardboard for durability. Make the sidewalk by pouring hydocal or plaster in the areas needed. Etch the expansion cracks and damage as desired when the plaster is dried. Use a coat of white glue and water over the plaster to make a more durable surface, both for game play and painting. Add detail pieces such as rubble, plasticard tiles, signs, and smaller bits like lights from the Cities of Death boxed set.

Combine plasticard, pieces from the Cities of Death boxed set, and vehicle parts (such as the chimera shown here) for the structure of the M*O*S*H. Don’t forget spare augmentation bitz!

No surgery is complete without a doktor’z table. Construct it by using an imperial vehicle sprue, plastic rods, and any other odd bitz lying around, such as an old slide projector bulb. Make this piece separate so that it can represent a Medicare stratagem on any table.

In between his experimentz, the Dok hangs out in, where else, da Swamp! Make it from un-printed toilet paper, coated with white glue and water over a stick frame. It’s simple!

For those emergency cases, the Dok has his own ‘choppa. Make the conversion from an imperial sentinel and use plastic rod to make the tube frame and landing gear. Construct a stretcher and the helicopter blades from regular plasticard. Only an ork rescue choppa would have a big shoota right up front!

Painting these pieces by limiting your painting palate to a basic six shades (here, shadow gray, codex gray, scab red, catachan green, and bleached bone. Keeping your painting palate simple really helps unify a complicated model together.

Now who needed a new pair of super-deluxe kickin’ legs?....

Due to the large number of pictures, I've broken out the pages for each major component to facilitate viewing.
