Scotland

Balgoine Castle

Notes: - We have been lucky enough to have had the chance to go to Scotland a couple of times. Despite the appropriate, gloomy weather that can arise, it is a lovely place, and well worth a visit. Good beer and hearty food, and a truly lovely landscape.

Recommendations: - Travel between September and May for best rates, weather is great early fall, mid to late spring. Regardless of when you go, be prepared for cold and wet. If you are a fan of malt whisky, definitely follow the whisky trial through the highlands.

Look into the Scottish Heritage Museum pass, they have a three day, seven day, and fourteen day pass, and this will get you in all state run museums, castles, and historic sites free of charge. Huge savings. Available at any state run historical site.
If you want to explore the islands of Scotland, you will need to take a ferry. You can check out the ferry schedule on line at http:\\www.calmac.co.uk.
